Today was an especially busy day. I thought at first it would be calm and relaxing as it is Easter Monday but no. Justin had other ideas unknown to me that had been brewing for some time. It was Purge time!!! We went through the last few...ok many...boxes left from the move including a large barrel I had used to store maternity clothes and mementos in.
Well we cleaned the house from top to bottom, bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms...the works! Then on to sorting!
First I have to say that I HATE sorting through things that are mine. I have this weird sense that I throw away memories if I give away my things...One of my many "nets" to give up! I seem to be so attached to that certain thing I got from someone however many years ago! Silly I know but nonetheless real to me! So I struggled through Julie's room first...baby things may be easier...not really. Then Ethan's room was done last week so I was good there. Emma's I leave up to her now since she is almost 12, I think she can decide on her own unless it gets too cluttered! I went through the kids toys, boxes in the storage room and by 9 pm was ready to be finished for the night...
Justin, knowing my weaknesses, brought in one box at a time to go through. I sorted through picture frames and pictures...a little easier...then boxes of books...I LOVE BOOKS...I just don't have the time to read every one so off they go to someone who will read them. Boxes with extra toiletries...Hey I found my hair straightener, some curling irons, old lotion...frozen...yuck! Then to the massive barrel of clothes. Not too bad. I transferred my Maternity clothes to a few Rubbermaid totes to go to a resale shop and kept a small box with special things. I found my wedding bouquet and veil, my Japanese Kimono's from my dad and a little t-shirt Bruce made for me that said A.A. Kid on the back (a story for another time!). Fun to see that the shirt would fit Ethan now! Wow time flies!
So at the end of a very long day~ 1 am~ I had a purged house, a van full of Goodwill and some things for Kijiji(a free classified website). Whew! Off to bed now and hopefully I can relax tomorrow!

Hmmm...Well, I think maybe I should do this with my things. As soon as I post this I will however forget all about it! I just don't want to do it. The problem is I have a lot of stuff for a college kid! Well, maybe in 4 years when I get married I will be able to have just enough things to make a comfortable home, not a cluttered college apartment. Not that my apartment is cluttered, but I do have a lot of stuff. Love you! Good job for cleaning!
